Change begins at home, wherever that may be.
Home means something different to everyone—and it runs deep through this year’s Festival. We’re showing incredible films and sparking conversations on critical issues such as affordable housing, migration, habitat loss, and more.
EXPLORE THE MEANING OF HOME WITH US
We will travel from the streets outside our office to examine the changes in San Francisco’s mid-Market Street with 5 Blocks, on to the global urban housing crisis with PUSH. Ay Mariposa delves into the divisiveness of the border wall, then we zoom out to the devastation of vast ecosystems in the much-anticipated Anthropocene. Finally, we go even farther to Earth’s outer reaches, ending the Festival aboard the International Space Station in 16 Sunrises.
Wherever we are, this year’s Festival asks, “What does home mean to you, and how can we work together to protect it?”
ALL NEW INITIATIVES AND COLLABORATIONS
The Impact Film Forum, generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, will explore the most pressing topics in social impact filmmaking today. We also have an exciting new partnership with the Exploratorium and the Swiss Consulate, resulting in a San Francisco first: our Takeover of Piers 15 & 17, with interactive installations, outdoor screenings, live music and more.
With 60 new films and more than 100 guest speakers from around the world, we hope you will enjoy exploring this year’s program and joining the many conversations.
We’re proud that the San Francisco Green Film Festival is recognized as the West Coast’s leading environmental arts program, attracting bold filmmakers and engaged audiences. As we approach our 10th anniversary in 2020, we’re more committed than ever to be a leading force for environmental justice, strengthening communities and growing the green movement.
By becoming a member, you are joining a movement that is more than movies. With decisive elections around the corner and a pivotal Green New Deal at stake, your voice is more important than ever as we share stories that ignite change, at home and around the world.
Share the Festival with your networks! We have sample posts and social media cards to help you get started.
