David Bond is a filmmaker and a father. Things have really changed since he was a kid. His children are hooked on screens and don't want to go outdoors. They want iPads, TV and plastic toys. Sound familiar? The marketing departments of Apple, Disney and Mattel control his children better than he can. Determined to get them up and out, David appoints himself as the Marketing Director for Nature. With the help of branding and outdoor experts, he develops and launches a nationwide marketing campaign to get British children outside. Project Wild Thing is the hilarious, real-life story of one man's determination to get children out and into the ultimate, free wonder-product: Nature.
Screening: May 31, 2014 at Roxie Theater. West Coast Premiere.
Discussion with David Bond, director
Workshop: Connect with your wild side We all need to reconnect with nature. Spend more time outdoors and remember why nature is so important to us. In Project Wild Thing we see that the spread of screen technology in our homes and on mobile, is keeping our kids - and us - a little distracted. Join us and the Bay Area Children in Nature Collaborative right after the screening for a reminder of the fun and wonder that nature has to hold, right on our doorstep.
