The team is hard at work preparing for Green Film Fest 2017. This week we introduce Erendira Garcia.
Read on to find out why she has volunteered to join our team.
WHAT IS YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL AND/OR FILM PASSION?
After four years of learning about all kinds of environmental issues at UC Santa Barbara, I realized that there was an important thing stopping me (and my fellow graduates) from solving them: communication.
Environmental issues are understandably intimidating to discuss because they are large-scale, alarming ones. Communication then, becomes extremely important and is something I am passionate about facilitating to create effective dialogue and change.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO JOIN THE SFGFF TEAM?
Environmental films not only help viewers learn about environmental problems, but also inspire them to become part of the solutions. I wanted to help SFGFF do that with their festival this year.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN THE TEAM?
I am helping market and publicize Green Film Fest and other SFGFF events. I love working on different communication strategies to engage people in solving environmental issues. In this role I want to creatively inspire and excite audiences about the films being shown this year.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR GREEN FILM FEST 2017?
I am most excited to share the post-film inspiration I feel with other viewers and see how they answer the films’ calls to action.
