We can feel ourselves picking up speed as we get closer and closer to the festival! This week we introduce Donna Nitzberg, one of our amazing interns helping us spread the word about the festival. Read on to find out why she joined the team.
What is your environmental and/or film passion?
Every day there are new and terrifying stories: melting glaciers, super storms, disappearing wildlife. Who could be impassive about these environmental disasters and their ominous implications? As a mother and a world citizen, of course I worry about our planet’s future. Film can be instrumental here - it’s a medium designed to reach a large group of people, to show what’s happening, and even to suggest some remedies. Hopefully this might nudge folks into coordinated action to try and save the world.
Why did you want to join the SFGFF team?
I am new to San Francisco, and I was both looking for a way to contribute to worthy projects, and to become involved in my new community.
What is your role in the team?
I’m a marketing and communications ‘intern’. As I’m a mature women with a lifetime of experience in all different types of endeavors - including writing an award winning health column, substitute teaching, selling online academic courseware, and working for an Australian magazine group - I like to think of myself as the Roberta Deniro of the office (as in the feature film, ‘The Intern’).
What are you most excited about for Green Film Fest 2017?
I can’t wait to see the reactions of folks to all of the great movies we’re going to show.
