Your donations make our programming possible, helping us to share vital stories from the environmental front-lines. Here's what some of our audiences had to say.
"The best thing about visiting the Festival was being inspired to change."
“A lot of the time we only read about our heroes… leaders that have accomplished so much, so it’s a pretty great experience to be here and see them in person.”
“I’m encouraged to see how many people are here and are actually paying attention, and are learning about climate change and how they can help."
"The energetic Q&A following the screening was a unique experience; it provided learning and critical thought that I couldn’t get anywhere else. The festival did a great job of covering the green topics I was aware of as well as introducing me to new ideas and issues."

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
”We’ve proudly supported Green Film Fest for many years because creating a forum to view and discuss the pressing environmental issues of our time through the medium of film is one way to ensure the health and wellbeing of our communities.” ~ Kaiser Permanente
“A rare amalgam of elevation, activism and inspiration, the Green Film Festival is the kind of event where you can pick a film, any film, from the program and walk away thrilled.” ~ KQED Arts
“Since its inception seven years ago, the San Francisco Green Film Fest has taken on tough environmental issues such as global warming and pollution, but even as the weeklong event has highlighted dire problems, the goal has always been to offer inspiration and hope.” ~ SF Chronicle
“The area's leading ecology-minded film festival seems a public service of particularly urgent importance in 2017” ~ 48 Hills
"Movies merely have stars. The San Francisco Green Film Festival displays a whole constellation. I have learned a great deal from the films I’ve seen there over the years, and I've encountered, in person and on screen, inspiring people. This year’s festival was the best of all. I feel proud to have participated in it and encouraged to know the work that others who took part in the festival are doing". ~ Kevin White and Stephen Most, filmmakers, Wilder Than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future
A special thank you to our Festival Sponsors!
BECOME A COMMUNITY PARTNER
At every screening, we build connections for our audiences between the moving personal stories & ideas in our films and immediate actions and non-profits here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our community partners are leading environmental, arts and community organizations across the SF Bay Area. They bring the expertise and opportunities for our audiences to galvanize action for lasting environmental change.
We collaborate with our community partners at the Festival and throughout the year, to bring more environmental films & discussions to wider audiences and promote the ongoing work we are all involved in.

Lights! Camera! Take Action!
The credits roll, the lights go up and then our Festival audiences are ready to learn more and play their part. Working with filmmakers, environmental experts, and community partners we make the most of that moment to find people's passion, get them to hook on and be involved.
We've had audiences leave the theater armed with bags of local seeds from Friends of the Urban Forest at the screening of Project Wild Thing; prepped to grill restaurants about sustainable seafood by Shark Stewards following the screening of The Last Ocean; and full of inspiration after talking to Derrick Evans (film's subject), Leah Mahan (film's director) and Reverend Doctor Ambrose Carroll (Green For All) at the screening of Come Hell or High Water: The Battle for Turkey Creek.
Thank you to our 2018 Community Partners!
We couldn’t do this without the passion and dedication of our volunteer team! Love good films? Passionate about the environment? Want to “make a difference”?
