Green Film Fest 2018 Internships

If you love films and are passionate about the environment, this is your chance to make Green Film Fest 2018 the best yet. Our interns are an integral part of our small, creative team. We simply couldn't do it without you! 

These are our current opportunities. There will be additional positions in Spring & Summer 2018.

Submissions Coordinator

Reports to: CEO
Job Status: Seasonal Volunteer
Schedule: 8-16/hr per week, March thru May 2018

Want to work directly with filmmakers? We need people who can keep track of and coordinate all the great films and filmmakers coming to our Festival. This is a good position for anyone that wants to dive in to the curatorial process - you will see in action, whilst facilitating, the selection process of films for the Festival.

You’ll work with the CEO and Screening Committee to bring together the films Green Film Fest 2018. This may include:

  • promoting the Festival’s Call for Entries
  • reaching out to partner festivals, distributors, and filmmakers
  • processing film submissions and maintaining entry records
  • tracking film reviews in our database
  • answering queries from filmmakers by phone and email
  • assisting with Screening Committee viewing sessions
  • you’ll also have the opportunity to preview films

Communications Assistant

Reports to: CEO
Job Status: Seasonal Volunteer
Schedule: 8-16/hr per week

This is your chance to use your creative skills to launch our communications campaign for Green Film Fest 2018. You’ll be central to growing audience reach and impact for San Francisco’s leading environmental arts event. Help us craft our marketing message through on-point postings and engagement through all our online communication channels.

You will be involved in every part of our online marketing from snappy blog pieces to simple yet stylish memes. You’ll assist our marketing campaigns for our website, newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more. You should have good writing skills, some knowledge of social media platforms, basic graphic design skills, and a willingness to jump in and learn.

Information for all internships

Role Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with experience in MS Word/Excel or Google Docs.
  • Great organization, attention to tracking data & details, and multi-tasking skills.
  • An active passion for the environment!


We expect a minimum of 8 - 16 hours per week (one to two days per week) for at least 12 weeks. We can be flexible with the commitment if necessary.


You will be based in our office at the Ninth Street Independent Film Center on 9th St at Mission. We are near Civic Center BART and Market Street MUNI. There is a small stipend available for local travel.


All internships are unpaid, but offer other benefits:
