Each year, many hundreds of environmental activists put their life on the line to protect wild places.
At the San Francisco Green Film Festival, we highly value sharing crucial environmental stories like these that have the power to educate, inform, and ignite change. We also pair solutions-oriented film themes with local non-profits to engage audiences with local action opportunities. Join our #morethanmovies movement!

Green Film Fest Screening - April 17, 2016 SF Premiere. Each year, many hundreds of environmental activists put their life on the line to protect wild places. In Cambodia, environmentalist Chut Wutty defied such threats and intimidation to fearlessly investigate the corrupt rubber plantations and logging syndicates. Ultimately paying with his own life. Now his fellow activists need to decide how they go on fighting to defend their forests. Alongside interviews with family and fellow activists, piercing animation illustrates how Chut Wutty died. First-time director and community forestry expert, Fran Lambrick, uncovers the fierce battle for the community to hold onto their connection with the Prey Lang forest, one of the last remaining wildernesses in South East Asia. DISCUSSION WITH: Leanne Minshull, activist-'Defendant 4' (with short filmDefendant 5); Gemma Tillack, Rainforest Action Network (with short filmDefendant 5). |
