San Francisco Green Film Festival is pleased to announce the introduction of the Green Fire Award for best Bay Area Environmental Documentary Feature as part of Green Film Fest 2017.
This award will include a $5,000 cash prize for the filmmaker and will be decided by an expert Jury, including leaders in the film and environmental fields. The Green Fire Award recognizes the best of Independent filmmaking in the San Francisco Bay Area by honoring innovative storytelling and new perspectives on environmental topics.

Submissions from filmmakers who are currently resident in the San Francisco Bay Area or films about the San Francisco Bay Area will be eligible for the award.

Call for Entries
Green Film Fest (April 20 - 26, 2017) announces its Call For Entries in all categories, including features, shorts, student and youth films. We are seeking compelling and relevant new films on the environment & sustainability by new or established filmmakers from around the world.
Now heading into its seventh year, Green Film Fest is San Francisco's leading event for films & discussions about people and the planet. Each year the festival presents over 60 new films to over 4,000 attendees, in venues including the Castro Theatre, Roxie, and other locations in San Francisco and Berkeley.
Deadlines: Earlybird is October 10; Regular is November 11; Late is November 21.

Green Film Fest Awards & Climate Action Film Contest
Finalists for the Green Fire Award will be shown in competition at Green Film Fest 2017. The winner will be decided by jury and announced at the Festival’s Closing Night on April 26.
In addition to this new award, Green Film Fest 2017 will present awards for: Best Feature; Best Short; Green Tenacity Award; Inspiring Lives Award; Young Filmmaker Award; Audience Award; and Climate Action Shorts Awards.
Now in its second year, the Climate Action Film Contest honors short films that bring us positive solutions to meet the challenges of climate change. The contest supports San Francisco’s climate action goals — 0-50-100-Roots — zero waste, 50% of trips made by sustainable transit, 100% renewable energy and roots or planting a tree. The San Francisco Green Film Festival is grateful for support from our partners Business Council on Climate Change and San Francisco Department of the Environment.
