POSTPONED - SFGFF Co-Presents: The Mill at Int'l Ocean Film Fest

Out of an abundance of caution, the International Ocean Film Festival has made the extremely difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Film Festival scheduled for March 12-15 in San Francisco due to the current status of the COVID-19 virus.

Join SF Green Film at the International Ocean Film Festival for this award-winning film by David Craig about the complicated relationship between communities and corporations, and the difficult choice between toxic pollutants and job security.

Near a First Nations community in Nova Scotia, a paper mill in January had to stop discharging waste into noxious ponds that for decades polluted both air and water. The company proposed piping its effluent into the ocean, a plan strongly opposed by both the native community and fisherfolk. If the mill closes, others will also, putting over 10,000 jobs at risk. Resolving such conflicts is becoming a challenging worldwide problem. — SJPH
