SF Green Film Festival
Green Film Fest at the Commonwealth Club. 8/27, 6pm
(Left to Right: Dirt Rich, The Human Element, Anote's Ark, Point of no Return)
This year’s Elemental theme sparks conversations around the four elements - earth, water, fire, and air - and how they create multifaceted perspectives on climate issues. We are in a moment of global environmental imbalance and instability. As we push on the elements, they push back harder at us, and we see that people are banding together with the knowledge that change isn’t just necessary - It’s Elemental.
Join us at the Commonwealth Club, August 27th @ 6:00 pm for a pre-festival panel discussion of this year's Elemental theme with Bay Area filmmakers from the 2018 official program.
Curious about the elemental? Explore the film themes page of our website for more info on the films that best highlight earth, water, fire, and air.

CHECK OUT GREEN FILM FEST'S NEW PODCAST: INTERVIEW WITH COAL + ICE
Green Film Fest is collaborating this year with COAL + ICE, a documentary photography exhibition and festival focusing on climate change and fossil fuels. The work of over 40 photographers from around the world will be featured alongside a myriad of artistic and cultural events, with environmental films programmed by Green Film Fest.
Exclusive interview with COAL + ICE Festival Creative Director Tom Corwin, and David Breashears - filmmaker, adventurer, and feature photographer at the exhibition.
Green Film Fest at the Exploratorium: Reel Science Challenge. 8/25 11am
The Reel Science Challenge pairs filmmakers with climate scientists in creative teams tasked with making a movie. They then have a limited time to write, direct, and edit a movie that compellingly tells the story of climate change before presenting the films at Green Film Fest. The Matchmaker kick-off event is August 25 at Exploratorium, where teams will meet for the first time and scientists will present their research.
THIS IS A FREE EVENT!
Filmmakers' sign up! You can commit as little as one afternoon. Some teams will shoot their movie the same afternoon as the kickoff meeting (Aug 25, 2018). Other teams will choose to spend more time. Filmmakers will probably spend some in post production after the shoot. The time they spend is up to them.
Come and watch the matchmaking happen!
